Mango Guardian is an emergency assistance app designed to help a user quickly alert trusted contacts. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app uses, why it is used, and how it may be shared when an emergency alert is triggered.

Information We Collect or Use

Mango Guardian may collect, store, or use the following information:

• The protected person's name entered during setup.
• Emergency contact names and phone numbers selected by the user.
• The WhatsApp contact selected by the user.
• Device location and map link when SOS is triggered.
• A camera photo and a short emergency video, if captured during SOS.
• Emergency action status, such as trigger source, call status, SMS status, WhatsApp status, and time of the SOS event.
• Anonymous app analytics, only if the user enables analytics in the app.

How We Use Information

We use this information to:

• Configure the emergency setup chosen by the user.
• Start emergency actions when SOS is triggered.
• Place a phone call and open prefilled SMS or WhatsApp drafts for selected contacts. The user must review each message and press Send.
• Share the user's last known location with selected emergency contacts.
• Attach emergency media, such as a photo, when supported by the selected alert method.
• Save an emergency report in Firebase so emergency information is available for safety follow-up.
• Improve app reliability using anonymous analytics, if the user chooses to enable analytics.

Camera Permission

Mango Guardian requests camera permission so it can use the device camera during an SOS event. The camera may be used to capture an emergency photo and, if enabled in the app flow, a short emergency video. Camera media is used only for emergency-related features and emergency reporting.

Location Permission

Mango Guardian requests location permission so it can include the user's last known location and a map link in emergency alerts. Location is used for SOS alerts and emergency reporting.

Phone, Messaging, Notification, and Accessibility

Mango Guardian requests phone permission to call the emergency contact chosen by the user. It does not request SMS permission. Instead, it opens the device SMS app or WhatsApp with a prefilled alert, and the user must review the message and press Send. Notification permission may be used to show urgent app status. The optional Accessibility service is used only to detect the configured hardware volume-button SOS trigger. It does not read screen content, inspect other apps, perform gestures, or press controls in other apps. Raw key events are processed on the device and are not saved or shared. An emergency report may record that volume buttons triggered the SOS and send that fact to Google Firebase with the report. Before hardware SOS detection can operate, the user must accept the separate in-app accessibility disclosure and enable the service in Android settings. Users may decline and continue setup for manual SOS, or disable the service later in Android Accessibility settings.

Firebase and Analytics

Mango Guardian uses Firebase services. Emergency reports may be stored in Firebase Firestore and media may be stored in Firebase Storage. If analytics is enabled by the user, Firebase Analytics may collect anonymous usage events such as app opened, language selected, onboarding completed, and Manual SOS pressed. Analytics events do not include names, phone numbers, contacts, location, photos, calls, SMS content, or WhatsApp message content.

Sharing Information

Mango Guardian may share emergency information with:

• The emergency contacts selected by the user through phone calls and through SMS or WhatsApp messages that the user reviews and sends.
• Google Firebase, for emergency reports, media storage, and optional analytics.
• Android system services and third-party apps used to complete emergency actions, such as WhatsApp, phone, SMS, camera, and maps.

Mango Guardian does not sell personal information.

Local Storage and Retention

App setup data is stored locally on the device. Emergency reports stored in Firebase are retained for safety follow-up until deletion is requested. Email mangosos.support@gmail.com with enough information to identify the report. We will process verified deletion requests within 30 days. Messages already sent by SMS or WhatsApp remain with the recipients and with those third-party services according to their own policies.

User Choices and Controls

Users can change emergency contacts and app settings inside Mango Guardian. Users can disable permissions in Android settings, but some emergency features may stop working if required permissions are disabled. Users can also uninstall the app to remove local app data from the device.

Children

Mango Guardian is not directed to children under 13. If a parent or guardian believes that a child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can help review or delete the information.

Security

We use reasonable technical measures to protect information handled by the app. However, no mobile app, device, network, or cloud service can guarantee complete security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
